Why The PSP Failed The First Time Round

The PSP didn’t always have great titles; in fact I sold mine due to little games last year. With the launch of the PSP Go things are set to change, but why did the PSP fail the first time round? Sony have an answer.

In a recent interview Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida, admitted the companies’ mistake; the main reason being the PS3.

“A couple of years ago we clearly put too much focus on PS3 titles,” says Yoshida. “It caused a lack of support for the PSP last year. We need to be focused and gear a lot of our resources back to the PSP. We have many titles this year.”

Hopefully Sony have learned from their past mistake. The PSP GO, in fact the whole concept, is defiantly receiving the attention it now needs. Over 16,000 downloadable extras are now available and games aren’t going to stop if Sony is to be believed.

Games are now on their way, but will Sony keep their word?
