I think the next gta should be set in San Andreas as there has onley been one so far!
Where Should The Next GTA Be Set?
2009-06-16 19:35Another interesting topic and one where I would like to hear your feedback.
So where would you put the next GTA, your area, your country? Let’s have an argument.
Las Vegas
The lights, the glamour, the dessert, all seem crazy enough for a Grand Theft Auto game. Las Vegas would be a great location for the GTA scene, the area would be big and you can just imagine what type of songs they would play on the radio. The whole attitude and style of the place suits the nature of GTA perfectly in my opinion, but what era should the game be set? The 1980s, the 1990s, or the 2000s, maybe even all three? For me it would defiantly be all three, I loved the way Driver pulled it off and the guys at GTA would defiantly pull it off, if not in style. Character name: Elvis.
London
You knew it was coming; England’s capital, London. Of course GTA was set there many games back in GTA London. Hopefully Rockstar wouldn’t mock the British accent too much. The cars would be classics such as the Mini and the buses, red and old. Whether it be set in the 60s or now, I personally think London would be a great location for the game to be set in. Listening to the Beetles whilst driving away from the cops would be a great experience. Character name: Benjamin.
Alabama
This would defiantly make for a good GTA. Alabama suit the style of the game and would rebelliously be fun. The map would be big, the locals would be funny and the sound track would contain mostly Lynyrd Skynyard. Cars maybe not be the most exciting but the mission would be. Knowing Rockstar they would defiantly make a great story in a place like this. Sweet Home Alabama! Character name: Billy.
Cornwall
Bet you don’t even though were this is. If you live in the U.K you might know. It’s the County where I live in the south west of England. Seeing my house on GTA would be fun to start off and I’m sure you would like to see yours on the game. Imagine seeing yourself in the game, taking the trash out. The area I come from is a perfect location for GTA. A half built town, a bad reputation, pubs, and a sometimes strange population. Cars are varied and Cornwall in general has some beautiful beaches and scenery. Character name: Jack
Moscow
Well it would defiantly be crazy; guns, war, drugs and Russians. The sound track would be interesting and would either suck or rock. The cars would be a sight and may not be the greatest seen in a GTA game, but the area would be something special and the story would defiantly be an interesting one. Character name: Ivan, pronounced e-van.
What one would you choose, I woulld love to hear. Please comment below.

BackTopic: Where should the next GTA Be Set.
———
have it set in harlem in 1986 and your character is a drug dealer
———
It would be cool to have GTA V set in vegas but the city wouldn't be a big enough environment for my liking
———
It would be awesome to have to fly a plane to Russia to complete a mission but still have the American characters and stuff but go anywhere.
———
tokyo would b the best setting by miles such a beutiful interesting underused city or maybe chicago detroit nd lots in between san andreas style definatly not vice city or san andreas would b so boring
———
A remake of Vice City would be awesome. Palm trees, beaches, the ocean. The possibilities are endless.
———
Given that Rockstar are from and based in Edinburgh, the next GTA should quite obviously be set in a fictional version of both Edinburgh and Glasgow, with the country between them. I've thought this for YEARS – it would bring a completely different graphical style to the whole thing, with the castle and historic nature of Edinburgh, plus the REAL Forth Road Bridge, and the high lights and low lives of Glasgow. Get it done Rockstar – you know it makes sense!
———
Japan people japan somewhere out of the US please
———
A japanese city or a chinese one would be something for rockstar to consider! the sales would be off the roof!
———
OMFG!!!! REMEMBER THAT THE CITIES HAVE TO BE FICTIONAL!!! NOT REAL CITIES!!!!
i would like:
San Andreas
or
vice city
———
Remember that cities in all GTA games to date (besides London) have been fictional cities based on real cities. I don't think European cities such as Milan, Paris, Amsterdam or Berlin should be ruled out. A more realistic version of San Andreas can't be ruled out either or another setting with more than one city. It might be set in London but I'm not sure if Americans would properly understand English culture and Americans are the biggest group in the market. It could be set in Edinburgh either and that's where Rockstar North are based. Personally I think it will be set in San Fierra but one that is based much more closely on San Francisco. I think it will contain a lot of the suburban areas of San Francisco and not just the main downtown area. My second choice is a fictional city based on Chicago and my third choice is a modern day Vice City. Carser city can't be ruled out either.

TORONTO !!!!! CANADA!!!!
———
the game would be sick if set in dominican republic because of all the crime and poverty that goes on over there not to mention the police brutality and the ongoing rivalry between the dominicans and hatians.
people over there are seperated by the amount of money they have you wouldnt belive the large difference between high income neighbourhoods and low income neighbourhoods.
plus the streats are perfect for chases and fast driving with all the highways and curving streets.
prostitution is also a major problem and drugadiction is like an apedemic.
its the perfect setting for a gta story. corruption, sex, drugs, money, and power all the basics of a gta story.
———
Tokyo
Mexico
Rio
Vegas
These are the best alternatives going... never done before in Sandbox style games.... These 3 settings would definatly make the next GTA game triple in scale and sales.
———
Set it in the Isle of Man - you could Molotov the chav mums smoking fags under the empty Woolworths doorway, or use your katana to behead a drug dealing scrote on top of the Tower of Refuge, after a massive chase through the town of Douglas chucking bins to hinder running in the back alleys (normal streets in USA). You could listen to the Bee-gees and the comedy stylings of Norman Wisdom. Mannin Line (the local radio station littered with inbreds) would be the funniest thing ever. Sample line: 'I tell you whaaat Terry, the size of paaasties in the Co-op is gettin smallers!
———
It would be cool; if it went all over the world; a little here a little there. Take a yaht; a plane. Also it would be cool if it was part of a dream where he becomes someonelse. How about an undergound city or underwater in in the galaxy. Afterall; it is getting old and Rockstar needs to expand more than just a new city with prettier graphics.
———
I think Tokyo would be a fantastic setting for the next GTA. I don't know how they would handle a non english speaking country for an english speaking audience, but still think it would be such a cool place for the next game. The city, the multiple amazing cultures ... the surrounding landscapes. Yakuza with crazy tattoos in bath houses ... sushi shops ... katanas ... motorcycles ... Tokyo should absolutely be the next GTA city!
———
i hate to burst everybodys dream. but lets stick to a realistic city here. its got to be either vice city/san sandreas or london. its that simple. their were countless references to the previous gta's in gta iv. so it will likely to be around those sorts of areas. i would love to see it in the UK however that may sidetrack from the whole premise of "Grand Theft Auto" it would have to be called car theft as "gta" isnt a common term in the Uk or any other EU country. however where rockstar games are concerned. any city is is good as. Their so unpreditable. Another point to raise is what would they call it. Seeing as Gta iv has the "iv" in the title it would be very strange to have the game set in vice city as it would be complicated and get confused as "gta Vice city" which has already been out. So unless the next game is "gta iv vice city" or something similar. it puts the question to mind that it could be somewhere else other than san andreas or vice city.
———
the game should stay in the states cause the idea of GTA has always been the people looking for a easy living and money and ending up to a trouble and stuff. The reason it should stay in the states is the fact that they criticises the american way of life and the american dream. I would like it to take place in the Liberty City, Vice City and Las Venturas all together like in the San Andreas. And I would prefer that the character would be an white male with connections to organised crime and no gansta stuff like in San Andreas. The fact they were black ganstas ruined the game for me I'm not saying because they were black but because the street gangs and stuff. Mafia is much more like GTA.
———
Among other cities I think Lisbon is a great city for a GTA in the present day, also Rio de Janeiro in the Favelas and maybe back in LA.
———
rio would be awesome. Grand Theft Helicopter
———
Conflict area.
Arabs and Israelis and UN and foreigners.
Old City VS new City.
Sites for 3 Major religions.
"Mountainy" landscape makes driving a challenge.
Good excuse for bringing back tanks and army in general from old GTA games, while still keeping the realistic GTA IV feel.
It looked visually stunning in Assassins Creed.
This cant fail.
———
just imagine starting out a small drug trafficker working your way up to the top becoming mexicos number 1 drug trafficker taking out mexican military taking drugs across the border being contract to kill people kidnap people the possibilities are endless when you are a high ranking drug trafficker
———
Melbourne Australia perhaps, or Hong Kong, or maybe Paris. The location is "definitely" (as opposed to "defiantly" lol) important, but what I'd really love to see is a GTA MMO. Instead of guilds, you would have Gangs, and there would be complete character customization in terms of race, physical appearance, and gender, while professions could be things like assassin, thug, thief etc. Instead of dungeons, you'd have instanced buildings, banks for example.

I think that the Arab World is a very good and suitable place for stories related to GTA, then Rockstar games can make a very awesome game play and story if they choose the arab world a place for GTA V, because in the arab world there are all type of lands, all type of people, all type of activity, all type of cars, both old and new, and of course all type of problems, like social problem, then the GTA team can choose one of those problems and concentrate on it to make a good game. One of the examples I can give is the Petrol, all of us know how many there are of petrol in the arab country and how many other country want to conquer its field, then the story can be based on an AGENT sent to the arab country to deal SECRETLY with great people (business man and politicians) without knowing that he is an agent, his main quest is to convince or finaly force them to let his country military forces to take control of some petrol fields. It will be very amazing, since in the arab world there are 22 country, so GTA team can choose as much as want of these countries and make the story in them, maybe 10 countries will be ideal ( the arab gulf + arab east). If the player isn't an agent, he must be a traitor from the arabians. This is just a little of my idea, i can give more if anybody of the gta team will hear my suggestions, player name could be mixed between arabic and english, ZIDAN is a good name, this name is both arabic and europian, and saudi arbia is the main land for the main story, and lebanon an alternate land where the player can live there to plan to what he will do in saudi arabia. Quests are given as usual, by phone or when he will know politicians he can go to their houses..... of course there more to say, for more infos u can contact me at: big_lagli@hotmail.com

Boston Boston Boston
they could totally play with Boondock Saints references
the chases would be crazy with all the tiny windy streets
they could have an Irish protag with crazy bar fighting skills
it might be a little too similar to GTA IV, but it would still kick much ass
———
They should include A day and night cycle like in san andreas but realistic for example people walking in and out of clubs and getting drunk lol.
———
i think it should be in vice city and be like Miami kinda like in the old one. like how liberty city was redone to look more like new york, well they could redo vice city to look more like Miami
———
Somewhere in Texas or South of the US
———
What about a total cultural over haul and put it in INDIA. the local mafia called "Bhai Loog" (Brotherhood) is very strong there and will give exotic touch to GTA.
———
The game Just Cause is like GTA but in a tropical environment. It takes place in South America. I think Rockstar should compete and make a GTA in the Caribbean. Las Vegas would be good too because of the tons of things you can do there. I wouldn't mind Vegas at all.
Rockstar could do so much more and make it better if it was a PS3 Exclusive because the BluRay disc has a few times more capacity than the Xbox HD-DVD. And also because of the better processor.
Just Imagine...
———
Czech Republic
———
Toronto should get it hands down! or anywhere outside the USA... sorry but getting tired of all games modeled after NYC, LA... dead rising 2 going to vegas so no not there... toronto!
———
LOL GTA in the GTA;
but personally i think San Francisco
———
ITS CLASSIC... its meant to be.. within the GTA... GTA would be the greatest....within the GTA!.
Greater Toronto Area ftw!
———
the next gta should be in the midwest. areas like detriot most dangerus city in america. or chicago third biggest city in america, and the third city my home town Milwaukee the beer capital of america
———
Tokyo would have to be the ultimate place. It's big, bright, and beautiful. The countryside is beautiful also. The culture in Japan is incredible and has so many possibilities for missions and back stories. My vote is Japan and I can almost guarantee that is where the next one will be. Mark my words.
———
Davey James, I think you're right, it would be cool too.
———
vegas would be sick if they got most of the hotels in there able to walk through. gamble minigames. strip clubs. escorts. and then premise could be the mafia underground who control casinos and u slowly work ur way up to a boss in 1 casino then take down the bosses in the other casinos and gain control 1 by 1. sick concept. multiplayer can have everything that gta 4 had plus gambling minigames online with friends. poker ftw.
———
btw, there would be a sick soundtrack cause theres so many good urban artists out here. weather is different instead of always sunny, how bout snow every now and again ;). and its not jus urban there are rural areas in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). THIS WOULD BE A SICK CONCEPT!
———
Toronto would be a pretty sick place to do it, theres a lot of stuff that goes on in toronto that people in the states dont give thought. but a lot of the city is corrupted especially that damn mayor! Asshole!
———
it should be a remake of san andreas but on a next-gen system cause we all can agree when we say san andreas was the best by far
———
Yeah, there has only been one in San Andreas and in all the others apart from London theres been two or more!
———
Modern day Miami why because gta vice city was in the 80's era where there was drug refrence and transportation from cuba over to miami like scarface but i believe they should set the setting in Miami modern day like it is right now that would be Sick.. and let u edited the person like on saints row or just have him black the game should be influence off of san andreas
———
Yea for real i want to see a remake of Vice city in today's Miami 305
———
the game should be set like in the hoods of chicago like san andreas and he should be black cause its more funner or they should let u edit him like on saints row
———
"cause its more funner"
hate to be a grammer nazi here, but seriously, more funner? i wouldnt have said anything if you had just wrote funner, but how could anyone living in america over the age of 10 years old should no not to say more funner, it just ticks me off. i am trying to help you man, you think your gonna get a job with english like that? I mean hey, i dont like english class, and i fuck up on spelling all the time like tommorow, or their theyre there, but i find it hard to beleive that anyone could actually write more funner on purpose. Sorry bro, just needed to get that out.
———
Why not haveit in india for a change??
———
too bad u wouldnt be able to drive there in the game LOL
———
yeah, and all the side missions would be about stealing water and protecting truck loads of cows, jk. But has anyone actually considered the language problem. Do you really want to read subtitles all the time, all the dialogue would have to be in indian, and rockstar isnt gonna do that, fforget japan or france etc. Maybe london, but personally, i say vegas baby, i could just see the opening mission, you accidentally killed a hooker, and your mission is to escape the police and burry her out in the desert lol XD
———
the game should be set in the mid west chicago couldsbe the base then use milwaukee and detriot as the neighboring places. you could have snow., real gangs ( chicago land of gangs) triple fat gooses early 90's chi-town instant game of the year. oh wait thats a bit much guess it will have to be exclusive. beyond
———
How about Belfast in Northern Ireland, now that would make a cracker game
———
Modern day Miami why because gta vice city was in the 80's era where there was drug refrence and transportation from cuba over to miami like scarface but i believe they should set the setting in Miami modern day like it is right now that would be Sick...
———
a border town to mexico.imagine it the drug trafficking that go's down there and the type of guns they use.makeing deals with the big narco's,haveing the nice cars, the money the girls.but at the same time u cant cuz we got all that problem with immigration and all that.but controversial sell thats wat they say.
———
Some people of Rockstar were here in Brazil, in Rio and they took a lot of photos of the city.
———
well that could be for Max Payne 3 as its set in Rio and made by Rockstar
———
ISTANBUL , period.
———
JAMAICA FOR SURE!
———
Hell Yeah!!
———
Montreal in the 70s!!
———
GTA: Tokyo! Fizzing neon, rushing traffic and swarms of pedestrians to contrast with the quiet, anonymous backstreets with throngs of wires running overhead and a small cat strolling in the white sunlight. Yakuza mobs driving heavily modified Toyota Supras to a shady drug deal down at the harbour and smartly-dressed, elderly Japanese mob bosses protected by a team of deadly ninjas in a Shinto temple-esque penthouse (think cherry blossoms, bonzai trees and the soothing sound of running water) on the top floor of a downtown Tokyo skyscraper. A possible backstory for the main character could be an former Yakuza member who is marked for death by his old mob chums after he is framed and subsequently wrongly accused for the murder of a high-ranking Yakuza boss. He is forced to go into hiding and live with his old nijitsu mentor at his secluded sushi shop in a hidden Tokyo back alley. The purpose of the player's actions for the rest of the game would be to clear his name and to find out who framed him......
———
Caracas!!!! it would rock so much.
———
How about Edinburgh, Scotland? Think about it: Rock Star North is based there, right? Edinburgh is famous for being a total Jekyll and Hyde city - one side of it; rich and very much up its own behind. Other side of it; not so much! Anyone seen Trainspotting? Setting it in Scotland, perhaps during the late 80s or early 90s would be very cool.
———
Tokyo and include a mission that requires drifting. Yeah yea
———
most people love playing GTA games because they can recognize and relate to the city it's portraying. Playing in London wouldn't be anything special for me because i've never been nor would recognize the detail. I say, keep it local as in USA.
———
WFT??, Local???
You mean local to you?
Not the other like couple million people?
Local to Rockstart means Edinbrough, Glasgow and their base at Dundee.
———
Caribbean for me. Think about it. Jamaica is a drug island where you can find anything you want and even legally(lenguage: english, music: reggae). Then is Cuba, a caribbean island influenced by Russia with a lot of classic style (lenguage: spanish, music:salsa). Dominican Rep.and Haity, two contries tougheter in the same island. Haity is the poores contry in the americas where you will find deserts, suburbanite places, bikes, home made guns, corrupted polititians, etc (lenguage: creole/frensh, music: afroamerican music). Dominican Republic will have: golf tracs, nice cars, drug dealers, speed racing, clubs, etc (lenguage: spanish, music: merenge and actual modern music). Last but not least Puerto Rico: a place dominated by the USA culture, great city, tall buldings, more like a Vice City place because its similarity with Miami, big Airport, cruises, filled with lights, hot women, night life, and many more (lenguage: english/spanish, music: reggaeton/ actual modern music). There you have it; five contries, four islands, five lenguage, and lot of different cultures. Placed in the '90 time frame or even erlies 2000. Character name: Juan
———
I agree. The Caribbean would be the perfect location for the next GTA game. It just has all the right features, as you mentioned.
———
Caribbean would only work with an 80s setting
———
personnaly i think it would be sick, you could sail from island to island, i really enjoyed that concept in windwaker, it made the world seem so much bigger, treasure hunting mission??? Pirates? Drugs, airplanes, you know what? maybe africa would be good, that would seriously interest me
———
I have to agree with Dimitrus this sounds like a very unique and intresting experience for GTA. Although I also could go with the Ireland or Scotland as it is also a fresh take on GTA.
