Pre E3 09: Need For Speed Shift Impressions
30/05/2009 15:43Gametrailers have game play footage of the new Need For Speed Shift game. It’s an interesting video and I'm not sure what to think of it.
It looks more like bagger racing than normal racing, and the graphics aren't quite as good as I expected. The cockpit view, however is a nice addition and I’m sure smashing into walls, cars, etc, will be a fun experience whilst looking though the drivers view. I really hope the smashes are detailed, as this would really make the game shine, and it looks like this is what they’re trying to promote
EA, have changed Need For Speed, so many times over the years and I think it's time they stuck to just one concept. The one they have chosen is going to be really hard to pull off, in my opinion, as there are many racing games out, or coming out that are already looking better than the trailer shown, example, Grid, GT Prologue, and you could even argue Split Second which looks awesome, in terms of racing games.
So it's a risky market for EA, and a choice I personally wouldn’t make. I hope that more trailers of the game will appear at E3, which show off something different about this game compared to other racers out there.
You can see the game play footage here from GTTV last week.
